Teaching Assistant

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and other school staff to help pupils access learning and get the most from their time in school. Depending on the assignment, your duties may include:
- Supporting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
- Working with individual pupils and small groups
- Providing targeted literacy and numeracy support
- Offering 1:1 support to pupils who require additional help
- Supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs
- Adapting activities and resources to suit individual pupils
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
- Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Following safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
Skills and Experience
- At least 6 months’ experience within a school or education setting
- Previous experience supporting primary-aged children
- Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential with suitable experience
- SEND experience would be advantageous
- Confidence working with pupils on a 1:1, small-group and classroom basis
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, positive and adaptable approach
- Ability to provide references covering your most recent 24 months
- Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to have one processed

- Based in Swadlincote and surrounding areas
- Daily rate: £95.00 – £109.25
- Flexible start from October 2026
